Toys,an important part of every childhood,have been recognized and celebrated by Strong Nation Museum of Play in America since 1998.This museum was opened in Oregon,a a northwest state in the US,and was later moved to Rochester,New York,in order to accommodate its its collection of around 5,00,000 play objects.
A interesting part of the Strong Nation Museum is the National Toy Hall Of Flame,where toys ,which have for years been an integral part of a child's play,have been showcased.The toys that have been inducted,or officially accepted,are either flexible in their use, widely recognized, or the ones that have encouraged creativity and learning.A toy has to usually fulfil at least one of the criteria in order to be accepted by the Toy Hall Of Flame.
Every year a committee makes a list of twelve toys that best meet the given criteria and amongst them toys with the highest votes are selected.While there were seventeen inductees in the year 1998-1999,the year 2000 saw only five toys bestowed with the honour.And 2001,2002 and 2003 saw only two toys each make it to the Hall Of Flame has grown to a total of forty-one.The stick is the latest addition.
With its huge collection of toys and dolls this museum celebrates the best of childhood memories.
