We have heard our parents talk about the days when 50 paise could buy so many things or how they used to treasure a few annas to buy a bagful of goodies.I remember how my neighbour's young daughter, madhumitha parvathi ,had not one but three piggy banks. One in green, labelled 'save, another blue 'spend' and the third, a pink one had the words 'give'.What a delightful way to understand money!
Spend right
Everyone needs money to buy what they want.Do you get pocket money from your parents? If you do then you must be spending on fast food, soft drinks, clothing, gifts, mobile recharges coupons, computer games or movies. If you do not,it can be a fascinating way to buy some things which you want to buy or do and to learn about money, with your parents.
Your parents can help you understand complex concepts related to personal finance as well.Asked them questions about how they manage their money-what do they consider the most important things to spend on??How do they borrow from the bank??And so on.
Ask your parents if you could do some small tasks around the house.Maybe you can earn some money by this. You may not be paid for every tasks you do but it is a good way to be productive around the house.Do not borrow money.Discuss with your parents their reasons if they consider stopping or reducing your pocket money.
Remember, pocket money is only one of the fun ways to learn about concepts of money at this age.

A pelican is water bird. They swim with short legs that are extremely strong and their four toes are webbed. When they rub the back of their heads their preen glands secrete an oily substance which water proofs the plumage.
DIET:Fish, amphibians, curstanceans and at times small birds.
WATCH THEM:We can watch them in some zoological parks and some Dense Forest area. They often catch fish by expanding the throat pouch.First they used to drain the pouch when they arrived above the surface, before they swallow. It takes a minute to do this and often during this time other water birds steal the fish.Pelicans too pirate from other bird.
One of the biggest problems that our eco-system faces is linked to small things we do and own.Look at all the things that belong to you-toys,bags,water bottles,lunch-boxes,stationery,clock,etc.What is the most common material used in making most of these things? you're right,it's plastic!
Did u know that plastic is the used in making almost anything, right from these little things that you own to construction materials? This cheap, light and easily available material has over the years replaced wood, glass, metals and even cloth. You must have seen pencil boxes made of other materials like wood, cloth or light metals like aluminium, available in all shapes and sizes.Or schools bags are made of thick canvas and tiffin-boxes made of steel....but we almost always buy plastic.
As a matter of fact, the manufacture of plastic releases several times more pollutants into the atmosphere than the manufacture or recycling of glass. Some of the chemicals that are released into the atmosphere when plastic is produced include benzene and ethylene oxide, which are carcinogenic(cancer-causing).Unlike organic or natural substance, plastic could take up to thousands of years to decompose. It does not decompose by recycling or landfilling; on the contrary, every time it is recycled, its quality becomes poorer and it becomes more harmful.
the cheap plastic bags and bottles that we use daily are usually made out of recycled plastic, and they sometimes contain poisonous chemicals like lead, cadmium and mercury, which react with the items that we store in them, like food, juice or water.
So how do we help the situation? We can stop or limit our of plastic items. We can carry our cloth bags when we go shopping, and use items made out of wood, metals, cloth and glass-saying"NO!" to plastic.we can request shopkeepers to give us newspaper or cloth bags and ask our parents not to accept plastic bags with purchases daily, that makes at least 100 bags in ten days.Imagine the difference we will make in a month if we boycott plastic. So let's consider, educate and act!
German biologists have discovered a new species of ant they believe is the oldest on the planet, dating back around 120 million years.researchers from Karlsruhe's Natural History Museum found the three mm-long insect in the Amazon rainforest in 2007,and it will shed light on the early evolution of ants.Last year a separate team from the museum's research body was in the forest investigation fungus when they stumbled upon the tiny insect, and named it Martialis heureka.Resembling a miniature wasp, the insect is like no other ant,and probably dates back 120 million years, making it the oldest still inhabiting the earth. The scientists used DNA samples from its front leg to establish its likely age.
Captivity strategies aimed at protecting endangered gaint vultures may not be enough to save the birds from extinction, according to a new study. The findings highlight the immediate need to put more of the beleaguered vultures into captivity before it is too late.Until recently the species was considered the most common raptor in the world and its habitat extended deep into South Asia.
The oriental white-backed population was in the millions as recently as 15years ago.Now there are fewer than 10,000.The plunge in population size is a direct result of the birds feeding off animal carcasses treated with the anti-inflammatory drug diclofenace. The drug is toxic to the birds, killing them within two days ,johnson said.it killed more than 95 per cent of the oriental white-backed species, which is officially know as Gyps bengalensis.

Toys,an important part of every childhood, have been recognized and celebrated by Strong Nation Museum of Play in America since 1998.This museum was opened in Oregon,a a northwest state in the US,and was later moved to Rochester,New York,in order to accommodate its its collection of around 5,00,000 play objects.
A interesting part of the Strong Nation Museum is the National Toy Hall Of Flame, where toys ,which have for years been an integral part of a child's play, have been showcased. The toys that have been inducted,or officially accepted, are either flexible in their use, widely recognized, or the ones that have encouraged creativity and learning.A toy has to usually fulfil at least one of the criteria in order to be accepted by the Toy Hall Of Flame.
Every year a committee makes a list of twelve toys that best meet the given criteria and amongst them toys with the highest votes are selected. While there were seventeen inductees in the year 1998-1999,the year 2000 saw only five toys bestowed with the honour. And 2001,2002 and 2003 saw only two toys each make it to the Hall Of Flame has grown to a total of forty-one.The stick is the latest addition.
With its huge collection of toys and dolls this museum celebrates the best of childhood memories.
The Pulse Smart Pen is really smart! It does not miss a word of a lesson or a lecture.
The pen records lectures while you take notes on the special dot paper that comes with it.Later, when you want a portion of a lecture to be replayed, just tap on the portion of notes and the spoken words will be replayed.
The notes can also be e-mailed or uploaded on your Facebook page. The dot paper turns the pen into a calculator or even a translator, when the controls are trapped.
A space elevator is a structure designed to transport materials from earth to space.
The Japan Space Elevator Association is planning to build an elevator, which is estimated to cost US$ 9 billion.the technology which powers Japan's high
-speed bullet trains will be used to run the elevator.
The elevator will have light but strong cables made of carbon nanotubes, tethered to surface of the Earth and reach the satillite docking station in orbit above Earth.the centrifugal forces of the Earth's spin will keep the cables taut.
The elevator when built will be a world wonder.it will be tallest structure ever built, being 180,720 times taller than the CN tower in Canada, which is 533metres tall. The elevator would equal approximately a fourth of the distance to the moon.
Space elevators are a good alternative to a rocket-powered space launch, saving cost and energy.
The idea of the space elevator was first conceived by Russian rocket scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky.
